Original Item. Only One Available. This is a phenomenal example of a Romanian Medical General’s visor cap, with a tall burgundy hat band around the hat to signify the General’s affiliation with “Military Medicine”. The cap badge is hand embroidered with gold wire bullion and a small disc & star to signify the General’s rank. Above this insignia is the crest of Romania. The rank is also signified by the gold leaves secured to the visor of the cap. This cap dates roughly to the 1992 era, during and after the Transnistria War, which Romania did not participate in directly, but they did support Moldova with volunteers and military advisors.
The cap has an approximate size of 58cm or 7¼ US. The crown is khaki green wool and a decorative twisted gold chinstrap which is held in place by two brass buttons. The visor is made of rounded fiberboard. The Romanian Coat of Arms on the front is the version that was utilized from 1992 into 2016. Judging by the age and appearance of the visor, it does look like an early example circa 1992 - 2000.
This is a fantastic piece of recent Romanian history and is ready for further research and display.
